INCOME TAX RETURN FILED MANUALLY, STATUS NOT SHOWING IN INCOME TAX WEBSITE

QUESTION:

From Gaurav Pandey
Hello, i had filed for my I.T return for AY 2013-14. I got the acknowledgement receipt where a stamp is pasted where the details including ASK no. is written. I checked online to find the status of my returns by writing my PAN card no., it said that I have not filed any tax return application. Plz help as I filed for it on 15th July 2013. FYI I have annual income of 84 k . In the receipt that I got it is written some terms like SAHAJ and ITR-1 etc...

Thanks.

ANSWER

Hi Gaurav,
Firstly please understand that there are two modes to file your ITR. First is through Website i.e. E-filing and second is manually through Income Tax Department i.e. ASK. The ITR filed through e-filing mode will only be shown online if you check for its status and for ITR filed manually you will have to go to Income Tax Department to know its status.

Since you have got an acknowledgment on which ASK receipt is pasted, this means that your ITR was filed manually. Therefore the details will not be shown on Income Tax Efiling website and you will have to go to IT Department to know the status. The Sahaj and ITR 1 is the ITR form number for your type of return.

Hope this will solve your query, feel free to ask further query.
