HOW TO RESET INCOME TAX EFILING PASSWORD

NEW PROCEDURE LAUNCHED BY INCOME TAX DEPARTMENT FOR DETAILED PROCEDURE CLICK HERE


As you all are aware that Income Tax Department has stopped sending e-mails of passwords on any other email-id except that is registered with income tax department. Due to this many assesses are facing trouble to file their return, because either their previous consultant is not giving them the password or they have forgotten the password created by them. In this post we are going to tell you the ways in which we are creating new password for our clients:

1. RESET THROUGH DSC-
Step 1- Go to https://incometaxindiaefiling.gov.in/
Step 2-  Then go to Login section of the site




Step 3- Click Forget Password (Find it near Login button)
Step 4- Fill in the PAN for which new password is required
Step 5- On the next screen there are three option available:
  • Answer Secret Question
  • Upload Digital Signature Certificate
  • Enter e-Filed Acknowledgment Number and Bank Account Number
Step 6- Select option  Upload Digital Signature Certificate
Step 7- Select New DSC and Upload using pfx file or USB token, whatever is applicable.
Step 8- You will be redirected to a screen at which you can change your password.

2. THROUGH ERI-
If you do not have DSC, one of the simple step you can do is to file your return through a ERI. ERI can file returns without passwords or you can file through http://taxcloudindia.com/. You will get the acknowledgment number and you can break the password with the help of the acknowledgment number.

    I HAVE ALSO FILLED MY PREVIOUS YEAR RETURN MANUALLY
    MY ACCOUNT WAS REGISTERED BY SOMEBODY ELSE WITH WHOM I HAVE NO CONTACTS RIGHT NOW THEREFORE RESETTING PASSWORD ON REGISTERED MAIL WONT WORK

    PLEASE GIVE ME A SOLUTION TO RESET MY PASSWORD

    Since you did not have registered e-mail id or your secret questions detail there are only three things you can do:
    1. File your return manually
    2. Get a Digital Signature Certificate
    3. Call Income Tax Department Helpline: 180042500025

  4. Hi Akshay,
    I have forgotten my password & email for e-filing purpose. I have already called the helpline number but they were unable to help. If I apply for a change in email via correction/change form for exiting PAN card holders will it help?
    or
    Can any agent or CA help me get the login details.

    1. Go to reset password option give your option reset password
      by using pin select new mobile no and email id submit it u will get pin on new mob no and email id submit them and u will get option of setting new pw

  5. Same Problem , I have never created login for e- filling but some one else must have created with my PAN No. ( wrongly)
    I am not able to reset the password.

      If you are not having DSC, go through taxcloudindia.com route mentioned in Point no. 2 it will help you for password change.

    1. Hi Tapan Das,
      Please use the website taxcloudindia.com, it can file your return online without password. After the return is filed use the acknowledgment number and you bank account number and reset your password.
      But be careful, taxcloudindia.com doesn't allow you to see if the return was already filed earlier or not.

  8. EVEN THOUGH BY APPLYING ABOVE PROCEDURE TO RESET PASSWORD FOLLOWING MESSAGE SHOWS IN THE BOTTOM IE. On successful validation, the password will be sent to your Registered Email.THEN WHAT IS THE MEANING OF DOING ALL THIS IF U DON'T REMEMBER THE REGISTERED EMAIL ID. PLZ HELP.

    1. No the message means that if you send the detail on the mail to validate@incometaxindia.gov.in for sending password it will be sent on registered email-id. It doesn't apply on the above mentioned procedures or the other 2 options to change password.

  9. Dear Akshay i think the format for the tax returns which is given by the incometax deptt. is not the same as on this portal. If it really files the ITR than it may be fall in defective ITR....

  11. SIR I HAVE FILE THE RETURN ON TAXCLOUD INDIA AS U SAY, I GET THE ACKNOWLEDGEMENT, BT WHEN I GO TO RESET THE PASSWORD IT SHOWS "ID DOSE NOT EXIST", & WHEN I REGISTER IT SHOW "YOUR ID IS ALREADY REGISTERED" WHAT SHOULD I DO..PLZ HELP ITS URGENT

      These types of Errors are common in Income Tax Website. Please call the toll free number 1800 4250 0025 and ask for resetting your password. Also please forward your PAN number, DOB, ITR V and Bank Account Number to our email id ngoandtaxconsultant@gmail.com and we will try to solve the matter.

  13. How long it take to update ack number and bank account number.
    I have filed it returns via taxcloudindia.com.After that i tried to reset the pw but it gives err saying its invalid.

    i have one problem in e filing that in pan verification clause pan no. is varified and it's corrrect pan no. but in 26AS i m changing the password in that reset password i m getting user id does not exists... so how to reset on that pan card no. ???
    plz help for reseting of password... i m waiting for your reply...

  17. Anything can be possible. You can at least ensure that you don’t commit any negligence. Do not handover copy of PAN to any one for no reason. Whenever you are submitting PAN for any purpose, writing down the purpose (just online) touching to the edges of PAN or little across of it and keep no much space between image of PAN and signature or the note you mention about the purpose.

  19. My pan number is not linked with aadhar ,so is it neccessary to link it with aadhar for filling the form?
