QUESTION:
From Ujwala Pravin Bora.
Hi,I had filled online IT return for AY 2012-2013. My income is below the taxable level but being a lic agent the Tax is deducted at source The refund demand was 20 k but I got a refund of Rs 13K. The reason to get 7k less was that my TDS was not reflecting in 26AS against my PAN. Now this mistake has been corrected by the TDS Deductor and is reflecting against my PAN. Could you please advise what rectification option should I select to get this 7K back
ANSWER:
Hi Ujwala, thanks for posting your query get your answer below:
1. Since you have given correct particulars in your Income Tax return and your refund was decreased due to TDS not booked by Deductor on your PAN, I would suggest you to make a Rectification request with the Income Tax Department.
2. If you want to claim any extra TDS which was not originally claimed in your Income Tax return than file a revised return with the Income Tax Department.
Hope this will help you, feel free to contact further for any query.

Hi Akshay,
ReplyDeleteThanks for your support and a quick response.
Could you please elaborate on the rectification request type to be filled because there are lot of option when one tries to file a rectification request.
I think "Tax Credit Mismatch" would be correct type of request but still would appreciate a confirmation for the same.
Thanks
Ujwala Bora
