NEW PROCEDURE TO CHANGE INCOME TAX PASSWORD
Since the Income Tax Department has stopped sending new Password reset links to Email-ids other than the registered E-mail id, taxpayers are facing a lot of trouble due to this. Many of the Taxpayers were using Digital Signature or taking help of Eri's which were increasing their cost of return filing. But now the department has given some relief to the taxpayer by allowing new procedure to Change E-mail id, Mobile Number and Password by bring the OTP option. Presently this option is available for only Individual form of person and not for other type of assessees
In this post we are going to discuss the step by step procedure to reset Income Tax password by the use of new procedure. This post will clear doubts of lots of taxpayers who wants to know how to reset Income Tax Password either registered by their consultant or someone else and those who have forgotten their password as well Secret questions :
STEP 1- VISIT INCOME TAX WEBSITE
The first and foremost step is to visit in Income Tax Website. Please visitSTEP 2- CLICK ON FORGET PASSWORD LINK
After visiting the Income Tax Website click on Login Here given on Left Hand Side of the Homepage.
From the next screen which appears, click on Forget Password link given near the LOGIN Button.
STEP 3- FILL THE PAN FOR WHICH PASSWORD RESET IS REQUIRED
On the next screen which opens, fill the PAN number whose password is to be reset and then fill the Verification code and Login.
STEP 4- SELECT OPTION
On the next Screen, select the option Using OTP (Pins). There would be 2 option available i.e.
- Registered Email ID and Mobile Number
- New Email ID and Mobile Number
STEP 5- SELECT FROM THREE OPTIONS MOST SUITABLE TO YOU
After Selecting the New Email ID and Mobile Number Option, Income Tax Gives option to fill new Email ID and Mobile number and ask to select from 3 options for verification:
OPTION 2. If Tax is deposited by you in this year select the Second Option OLTAS CIN. Please fill the BSR code of Bank, Date of Tax Deposit and Challan Sequence Number.
OPTION 3- The last option in this method is to give your Bank Account Number given in earlier year returns. Tax Payers should note that only that account number will be validated which they have given in earlier years.
